– BOTOX –

Our med spa offers a wide range of injectable treatments, including dermal fillers, wrinkle relaxing injections and full liquid facelifts that will take years off your appearance!

What is Botox? It is an FDA approved prescription medication that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe wrinkles in adult men and women.

Over time, making repeated facial expressions causes lines to form. Botox works to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by temporarily weakening certain facial muscles that lie immediately under the skin. When the muscles under the skin have less movement, the skin appears smoother and less wrinkled.

You will still be able to make normal facial expressions. Botox can be used to prevent deep lines from forming as one ages, or to lessen the appearance of lines that already exist.

What kind of wrinkles can Botox treat?

This treatment is usually best for treating moderate to deep creases and lines. Botox has many uses, but most commonly, it is used for:

  • Horizontal lines across the forehead
  • Vertical “11” lines in between the eyebrows
  • Crow’s feet, which are deep creases at the outer corners of your eyes.

All these lines are created due to long-term, repetitive muscle movements when you smile, laugh, frown, squint, or make other facial expressions.

What does a Botox treatment entail?

Initially, a full assessment of your skin is performed and treatment goals are discussed.

Each treatment area receives 3-5 injections, depending on the area being treated. Typically, each treatment area takes around 10 minutes. You will be able to return to normal activities immediately. Full results are visible in 14 days, but reduction in line severity can be seen in 3-4 days and can look forward to about three months of diminished wrinkles.

Who cannot have the treatment?

Women who are pregnant or nursing should not undergo Botox treatment. In addition, patients with nerve/muscle disorders, such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, should avoid treatment.

What does preparation for Botox entail?

Avoid aspirin and ibuprofen for 10 days prior to treatment to minimize the risk of bruising.  Also, avoid taking vitamin E and fish oil. If you have a history of cold sores, please notify your provider in advance of treatment.
